Dr Jorge García Fernández specialises in Gynaecology and Obstetrics. He also has a subspecialty in gynaecological oncology and minimally invasive surgery.

He completed his residency at Reina Sofía University Hospital in Córdoba (Spain), where he received an award for excellence upon graduation. He subsequently began his clinical practice at Bellvitge University Hospital and continued his professional trajectory at Viladecans Hospital (Barcelona, Spain).

His career combines clinical and surgical practice with research in gynaecological cancer and teaching.

He has augmented his training through several official master’s degrees, including two in Gynaecological Oncology from the University of Barcelona and another in Translational Biomedical Research from the University of Córdoba and IMIBIC. He also holds several European accreditations in laparoscopic surgery, hysteroscopy and robotic surgery through the ESGE (GESEA programme) and SERGS societies.

Furthermore, he has completed training courses in Spain and abroad at centres such as CMI Jesús Usón, ISLE Academy and other institutions linked to the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology/European Network of Young Gynae Oncologists, as well as undertaking several international placements, including at the World Laparoscopy Hospital in New Delhi, the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases in Lima and San Juan de Dios Hospital in Guatemala City.

He is a member of domestic and international scientific societies such as SEGO, ESGO, SERGS and WALS, and attends a range of conferences in Spain and abroad each year.

In addition to his clinical work, he is involved in several research projects in gynaecological oncology. He is co-author of publications in international scientific journals such as JAMA Network Open and Journal of Robotic Surgery, among others, and leads projects as principal investigator focused on patients with gynaecological cancer, as well as anatomical cadaver studies on the female pelvic retroperitoneum in connection with gynaecological surgery at the Universities of Barcelona and Córdoba.

He also actively participates in educational and scientific outreach activities on social media, focusing on oncology and surgery.
