Dr Fortuna Gutiérrez is an experienced pulmonologist with a speciality in sleep medicine. She has extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating sleep apnoea, sleep-related breathing disorders, COPD, asthma, and other conditions that affect lung function. Her approach to clinical practice combines diagnostic precision and advanced sleep study interpretation with care for the whole person to improve breathing and sleep quality.

She obtained her medical degree from the University of Valladolid (Spain) and completed her specialist training in pulmonology through the MIR residency programme at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona (Spain). She later earned her PhD in Medicine with distinction from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain). She currently serves as Coordinator of the High-Complexity Sleep Unit and the Functional Pulmonary Unit within the Pulmonology Department at Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona. She also works as Clinical Lead in the Pulmonology Unit at Clínica Diagonal. She complements her clinical work with extensive teaching activity and is actively involved in training future specialists.

Recognised for her record in research, Dr Fortuna Gutiérrez works as both principal investigator and collaborator in Spanish and international multicentre studies on sleep disorders, with her findings having been published in leading peer-reviewed journals. She is a member of SEPAR and the Spanish Sleep Network, and also serves as the coordinator of the Sleep Disorders Working Group (SONCAT) within the Catalan Society of Pulmonology.
