Excellence in assisted reproduction and fertility
La Assisted reproduction is a set of medical techniques and treatments (Intrauterine insemination, In Vitro Fertilization, Oocyte Cryopreservation, etc.) whose objective is to achieve pregnancy both when there are female or male infertility problems, as well as in women who wish to experience motherhood individually or in pairs of women.
En Women's Repro, an assisted reproduction unit led by the gynecologist Carla Castell, we know to what extent the process that they start when they decide to trust us to seek pregnancy is important for our patients.
We analyze in detail the circumstances of each woman, investigate the causes of infertility and carry out the assisted reproductive treatments more suitable and adequate to achieve the desired pregnancy.
Our patients know that, at Women's, their trusted doctor will always be available for them, by their side, attending to their questions or concerns, in person, by videoconference or via email, because emotional well-being is one of our greatest priorities throughout the process.
When to go to your specialist's fertility consultation
If you want to be a mother and cannot get pregnant, the best option is not to wait any longer and consult a fertility specialist.
The younger the woman who attends the consultation and the sooner we begin the study of possible infertility, the simpler the reproductive treatments and the higher the chances of a successful pregnancy.
If you want to get pregnant, at Women's we advise:
- If you are under 35 years old
Go to our fertility consultation if after 12 months you do not get pregnant.
We will detect the causes and begin as soon as possible with the appropriate treatment.
- If you are over 35 years old
Come to our consultation if after 6 months you do not get pregnant.
We will carry out a study of the causes and design the best fertility treatment for you.
- If you are over 38 years old
From the moment you have decided to seek pregnancy, it is highly recommended that you go to the consultation of a reproductive specialist.
- If you or your partner have an underlying problem that may affect fertility
Do not hesitate and go to your specialist's consultation from the moment you have decided to seek pregnancy.

Due to various social and medical factors, more and more women are finding it difficult to become pregnant. For this reason, fertility and assisted reproduction is one of their concerns.
To begin with, it is important to note that the fertility rate of the human species is low, it is estimated that each month, a sexually active couple, (who does not use contraception, under 35 years of age) with no known infertility problems, has a 20-30% chance of getting pregnant. So, after one year, 85% of couples should get pregnant.
After the age of 35, the loss of eggs and their quality decreases exponentially.
There are other factors that can also compromise the reproductive capacity, accelerating the loss both in number and quality of oocytes, such as endometriosis, previous surgeries in the ovaries or in the uterus, pelvic infections that may have damaged the tubes, treatments with radiation therapy or chemotherapy, as well as repeat abortions. It is important to note that pregnancy is a matter of two. There are also factors that can lead to a decrease in male fertility, such as mumps, surgery on the testicles or trauma.
For all these reasons, a sexually active couple, who do not use contraception, under 35 years of age, with no known infertility problems, would be recommended to go to an Assisted Reproduction Center if they do not achieve pregnancy within a year. On the contrary, those couples with some basic problem that could compromise fertility or if the woman is over 35 years old, it would be recommended that they come after 6 months to start a fertility study and guide them from the reproductive point of view.
It is important for a woman who wishes to become pregnant that she is aware of her fertile days. For this we recommend you consult our article on the menstrual calendar and calculation of fertile days.
